So yeah, focusing mainly on pve here so here it is.

1. Arcane Conundrum

2. Psychic Instability

3. Calculated Risk

4. Clumsiness

5. Signet of Clumsiness

6. Wandering Eye

7. Accumulated Pain

8. Rebirth (will be replaced with Flesh of my Flesh when I can change my secondary)

Anyways, what I'm mostly worried about is that my bar is focused to much on melee to the point of have some redundency. So I was wondering, does anyone perhaps have any suggested changes to my build? If possible I would like to stick with just illusion magic and fast casting.

Switch accumulated pain with phantom pain unless you're with a hex-heavy team (calculated risk and conundrum have no synergy).

I kinda think clumsiness should be replaced with pain inverter, since PI stacks nicely with calculated risk.

PI works really well on any team (if you can interrupt) because of the AoE kd. As long as you don't camp a target and wait for them to cast (instead of using the rest of your skills) you should be fine.

Generally, I don't recommend player characters bringing a rez skill in PvE. Just stick it on your heroes and bring rez scrolls if you absolutely must have a rez on your player character... which shouldnt be very often.

I also dont really see accumulate pain being of much use in this build as the only two stackable hexes are arcane conundrum and calculated risk, and unless a physical enemy gets stuck in the AoE when you cast arcane on an enemy caster, these two hexes should never really be on the same target (arcane for casters and calculated for physicals).

I would replace Accumulate with Drain Delusions or power drain as either one would combine well with arcane conundrum to give you more energy. Then, I would replace the rez with Cry of Pain to give you some more damage and to take advantage of the insane easyness of interupting an enemy with conundrum.

I dont see psychic instability as having much synergy with the build. I like PI with domination AoE's like wastrels worry and shatter delusions but thats just me.

I would switch psychic instability with Ineptitude and drop accumulated pain and calculated risk for some more e-managing skill, like power drain and drain enchantement.

Yeh it's best to use domination for proepr interrupting, and even then it's probably better to use Panic.

As said before,drop res. Never take death into account and you'll find yourself dying less.

Yeah, these were pretty much what I was afraid would be wrong with my build XD Right now my biggest problem is getting proper synergy. What I'm trying to do is get a bar that is effective against both melee and casters. As for panic, I tried that,but I found it seemed to have poor synergy with the majority of mesmer skills.

Edit: Actually I'm thinking about making a bar around Stolen Speed maybe, does Stolen Speed stack with skills like Arcane Conumdrum or no?

Just Illusion and Fast Casting would work but it would help to have Inspiration for energy management as well. Or you could /A and put some points into Deadly Arts for [[Assassin's Promise]:

I've done a little looking at calculated risk and it's a funny skill. It's strictly a damage redirection ability, when it procs you still get hit by the attack/skill, it's just you take 0 damage and the enemy takes a bunch. So warriors still build adrenaline, dchop and dismember still have their effects while dealing 0 damage, etc. This also means it will not proc for damage if the character keeps missing due to blind or block, and certainly not if interrupted by clumsiness etc. The damage the hex deals also depends on any debuffs put on the target, so say weakness may drop the damage on risk far below the 80 max. Protection stuff however is not taken into consideration, so you can get hit for say 50 under prot spirit, but deal back more damage when risk procs. It's a nice skill when the foe is swinging into minion punching bags or shelter/union and the like, but you have to rely solely on that and cut blocking/weakness out of your build if you want to maximize damage.

Just not on recharge, the duration refreshes when you recast it.....gots to wait for the 3 seconds* to end or for the mobs to cast and remove it harmlessly.

*half duration bosses are different ofc.

I run something similar to the original post. It's not the most effective build in the world, but I have fun playing it, and that's whats most important to me.

whatever - ether feast in an untrusted pug, by ural's hammer, signet of clumsiness...
12 fast cast
14 illusion
11 inspiration.

I usually wait for a mob to ball up before agroing it with arcane conundrum on a caster, then PI for a nice KD, then change to melee targets for the two anti-melee spells, then back to the caster for CoP and and Power Drain.
